Alisson and Wataru Endo react as Liverpool make surprise double Anfield announcement

Alisson and Wataru Endo have reacted to a double announcement by Liverpool that has come out of the blue.

The Reds have been busy in the transfer market so far, and are clearly not looking to rest on their laurels after a relatively comfortable Premier League title win in Arne Slot’s maiden season in charge at the club.

Liverpool are closing in on signing Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, with former teammate Jeremie Frimpong already through the door, and they are also looking to bolster their left-back options with Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez a main target.

There will be outgoings from Anfield too, though, with Trent Alexander-Arnold already setting the precedent after joining Real Madrid before the end of his Reds contract, while Football Insider recently revealed that Harvey Elliott looks likely to leave Liverpool to join a Serie A club soon.

The Reds’ chiefs are more concentrated on off-pitch matters right now, and they are moving to make more exit agreements with their fringe players as Slot tries to slim his squad down to one that looks ready to for another title charge next term.

Alisson and Endo react to Liverpool’s double Viteszlav Jaros announcement

It has been all change in Liverpool’s goalkeeping department ahead of the new season, with Caoimhin Kelleher joining Brentford in early June after the Reds secured the services of Valencia stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili last August for him to become a part of their squad from July this year.

Slot has moved to sanction another keeper exit with Alisson and Marmadashvili as his first and second-choices right now, with Liverpool announcing on Wednesday (18 June) that Czechia international stopper Viteszlav Jaros has signed a new contract at Anfield and joined Ajax on loan for 2025/26, with a message to the 23-year-old saying: “Congratulations and best of luck, Vitezslav.”

Their Instagram post announcing his departure was reacted to by both Alisson and Endo, who each liked the post, while Reds youngsters Harvey Davies and Calum Scanlon also followed suit.

Jaros unlikely to have a long-term future at Liverpool

Football Insider verdict

Liverpool have enjoyed the services of one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Alisson over the last few years, and Kelleher was an impressive back-up when called upon too, so it came as little surprise to see him join a club like Brentford as their number one for a sizeable fee this summer.

Kelleher has already been replaced by Georgian international Marmadashvili, who stands at 6ft 6in and has impressed for La Liga side Valencia since he joined them from Dinamo Tbilisi in 2021.

Marmadashvili’s Valencia career stats

He officially becomes a part of Slot’s squad on 1 July, and his status as a number one keeper in Spain’s top-flight and at international level means he will challenge Alisson for his starting spot in the years to come.

The Brazilian is still a top stopper, though, and is only 32-years-old with two years still to run on his Liverpool contract, while Marmadashvili is just 24, only one year older than Jaros, so it does feel pretty unlikely that the Czech keeper will become a regular in Slot’s squads anytime soon as he heads out on loan.
