Alisson Becker sends cryptic message to Liverpool fans after injury update

Liverpool ace Alisson Becker has taken to social media to send a message to fans after Arne Slot gave an update on the goalkeeper’s injury.

The 32-year-old has been out since the start of October after picking up an injury in their 1-0 Premier League win over Crystal Palace.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of their game with Southampton on Sunday (November 24), Slot confirmed the Brazilian will remain on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.

Slot said, “The last few days of recovery are always the most tricky, they have to go from isolated training sessions to the group training sessions.

“It’s difficult for me to judge now whether it will be one, two, three days or a bit longer. With Alisson and Jota, I don’t expect them to be available for that game. With Trent it is going to be in between.

Alisson has now missed 40 games through injury for Liverpool over the last five seasons, more than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League.

The manager then added, “We are careful with everyone, especially when it comes to muscle injuries. He is back in training with the goalkeeper coach, but he is not training with the team yet.

“That is expected soon and then let’s wait and see where he is in terms of match fitness. He’s getting better and better.”

Thankfully for Slot’s side, Republic of Ireland international Caoimhin Kelleher has been a fantastic understudy in Alisson’s absence, keeping two clean sheets in the five Premier League appearances this season.

Alisson remains Liverpool’s number one, for now at least, with the ‘keeper taking to Instagram to send a message to fans.

The purchase and subsequent loan of Giorgi Mamardashvili in the summer indicates the club are looking to the future as Alisson struggles to shake off his hamstring troubles.

Liverpool are doing just fine without Alisson for the moment, sitting at the top of the Premier League table, five points above rivals Man City.
