Alistair Johnston and Daizen Maeda shocking – Celtic player ratings vs Rangers
Alistair Johnston and Daizen Maeda were among the poorest performers as Celtic were thrashed 3-0 by Rangers in the Old Firm Derby.
The Gers beat their bitter rivals with a brilliant performance thanks to goals from Iannis Hagi, Robin Propper and Danilo.
Celtic barely laid a glove on their opponents as Brendan Rodgers’ side were uncharacteristically sloppy in possession and at the back, while lacking their usual threat going forward.
The Hoops still have an 11-point lead at the top of the table and this is their first defeat. That should provide more confidence about their prospects of lifting the premiership this season despite this damning loss.
A Celtic defence normally valiant but a shadow of themselves

Kasper Schmeichel – 5
Made six saves which were all crucial as the scoreline as bound to be worse. Distribution was poorer than usual and could’ve done better for the first goal.
Alistair Johnston – 4
A clumsy tackle on Hagi foreshadowed a poor performance from the defender who didn’t register a single tackle.
Cameron Carter Vickers – 6
He was the main source of build up for The Bhoys, and managed five clearances. However he lost his man for the second goal which was costly.
Liam Scales – 5
Managed eight clearances which was more than anyone else, but found it tough tracking back, especially when Rangers counter-attacked. Passing was poor too as he was dispossessed numerous times.
Greg Taylor – 5
With links to Kieran Tierney, that sort of burst down the left flank was missed as Taylor barely attacked and didn’t do much defensively either.

Brendan Rodgers midfield anonymous and man-marked
Paulo Bernardo – 5
Struggled to create against Mohamed Diomande and was subbed off, deservedly so.
Callum McGregor – 5
Seemed as if he was shellshocked with the way Rangers came out all guns blazing. He lost the ball 10 times and was far from his usual self. His yellow card in the first-half may have had a part to play.
Reo Hatate – 5
Despite creating Celtic’s best opportunity in the first-half, he lost the ball to many times which led to many Rangers’ attacks.
Nicolas Kuhn adds to poor showing from all attackers

Nicolas Kuhn – 5
Another player not his usual self. He was making sloppy passes and didn’t do too much to attack either. The team missed his explosiveness in attack.
Kyogo Furuhashi – 5
He was one of the players that was definitely better in the second-half, He was also lively in pressing but wasn’t found whenever he made runs.
Daizen Maeda – 4
Their winger was anonymous this game and faded early on similar to his teammates. A poor performance that needs forgetting.
Substitutions
Adam Idah – 4
Brought on in the 64th minute but barely made an impact and lost the ball twice.
Luke McCowan – 4
He was instantly nullified when he came on as Rangers overran their midfield so couldn’t make much impact.
Alex Valle – 5
Offered more of an attacking threat on the left than Taylor but he also disappeared.
Arne Engels – 5
Came on with just 15 minutes to go but still managed a few fair touches and provided a little spark in the limited minutes he had.
In other news, Neil Lennon was stunned by comments made by Kris Boyd.
