Darren Bent has savaged Everton defender Yerry Mina after his performance in the 5-2 defeat to Liverpool.

The former Tottenham and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that the Colombian powerhouse was the worst of a bad bunch of defenders on Wednesday night.

Marco Silva opted for a back three of Mina, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate at Anfield, Divock Origi and Sadio Mane causing the trio all sorts of trouble.

Having watched the South American star flounder against the Toffees’ local rivals, Bent ripped into the defender’s display and says there are serious concerns with his form right now.

Asked who was the main culprit at the back, Bent told Football Insider: “I would say Mina, because Michael Keane you know what you’re going to get, he might make the odd mistake but on the whole he’s a good defender and he can defend.

“Mina, positionally he’s a bit all over the place and when you’re a young kid at the back, you need a bit of guidance. When the guy next to you isn’t giving you that and is all over the place, it makes you uneasy and on edge.

“Mina, he’s a big problem in the Everton backline and I don’t know what they’re doing but he’s not helped the situation one bit.”

Mina has played 16 times already for the Toffees this season, appearing in every minute of all but one of their Premier League games.

After keeping a clean sheet in the club’s opening two top-flight games, they have only kept one in their next 13.

In other Everton news, the club are set to listen to offers for a midfielder who wants to quit Goodison Park in January.
