Allan Saint-Maximin told to quit Newcastle United as deal agreed – pundit

Frank McAvennie has urged Allan Saint-Maximin to leave Newcastle United if he doesn’t get more game time.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Saint-Maximin is “far too good to be a bystander”.

The 25-year-old’s contract at St James’ Park runs until 2026 after signing from Nice in 2019.

According to the Daily Mail (25 January), the Magpies will consider offers for the winger should they finalise a deal for Everton’s Anthony Gordon.

According to Fabrizio Romano (29 January), Gordon has completed medical tests and signed his contract with Newcastle.

When asked if Saint-Maximin should be considering an exit from St James’ Park, McAvennie told Football Insider:If he is not going to get a game.

He is far too good to be a bystander that is for sure.

All of a sudden the players around him have just taken over and they have all bought into it. It is just going to get better for Newcastle.

I like that they have not just spent fortunes, they have spent wisely. They have got a good manager in Eddie Howe and I would love to see them win the League Cup.

Saint-Maximin has made 16 appearances for Newcastle so far this season and has scored just one goal and provided three assists in those outings.

The winger has not started a Premier League game for Eddie Howe’s side since August and has fallen down the pecking order.
