Allardyce: Everton will beat Swansea if they heed my big warning
Sam Allardyce has warned his Everton players about complacency when they play Swansea City on Monday, and not to treat it like an easy game.
In an interview with BT Sports, the Toffees boss revealed that he has told his side to ensure they play their best against Swansea City who are struggling in the league.
“I’m not expecting any complacency,” said Allardyce.
“It is my big word to the players – that this will not be an easy task, it will be a difficult task, as always, and don’t slip up against a side everybody expects you to beat.
He continued: “You will only get the opportunity to beat them if you play 100 per cent to your level, which is what we have had to do certainly in the last four games we have played.”
Everton go into the game unbeaten in their last five across all competitions, and sit comfortably in the top half of the table.
Swansea City sit bottom of the league with 12 points, four points adrift of safety.
If the Toffees win they go above Watford into ninth, after the Hornets lost 4-1 to Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
Monday’s game takes place at Goodison Park with Everton having won their last three league games at home, however Swansea are unbeaten on their last three visits to Goodison Park.
The last meeting between the sides in May ended 1-0 in Swansea’s favour with Fernando Llorente getting the only goal of the game.
Despite Swansea’s good record at Goodison Park, they have lost 18 away fixtures since the beginning of last season which is more than any other club.
