Ally McCoist delivers verdict on Celtic ace after Rangers draw, advises him to leave

By Amir Mir

Ally McCoist believes Celtic ace Moussa Dembele had a “poor game” during the 1-1 draw against Rangers on Sunday afternoon.

Former Gers striker McCoist jokingly urged the highly-rated attacker to leave the club after he was asked what advice he would give the youngster.

The 20-year-old moved to Celtic last summer when his contract at English Championship outfit Fulham expired.

Since Brendan Rodgers signed up the Frenchman, he has lite up Scottish football with a number of dazzling displays.

He was quiet during the Old Firm clash at Parkhead, but McCoist believes he is one player who can get away with that type of performance.

“I think if you are going to cut anybody slack in that Celtic over the season, in particular, the Old Firm games, it has to be Dembele,” McCoist told Bein Sport as posted by a Football YouTube channel.

“He was extremely quiet today, he really was, still had a couple of chances that he probably should have done better with, that’s for sure.

“Leave now, [when asked how long he would advise Dembele to stay at Celtic]”

Despite failing to find the back of the net at the weekend, Dembele has previously scored five goals against Rangers.

He netted a hat-trick against the Gers in September, before his late goal in October helped Rodgers side progress through to the final of the Scottish League Cup.

Furthermore, the former Championship player was on the scoresheet once again, this time at Ibrox to help his team secure a 2-1 win away from home in the SPL.

Over the course of the campaign, Dembele has scored 32 goals in 45 games for the club, 17 of them coming in the SPL.

This has helped the Bhoys remain unbeaten in all domestic competitions this term, dropping points on only two occasions.
