Alphonso Davies to Liverpool: O’Rourke shares ‘huge’ update today
Real Madrid are the favourites to sign Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies amid interest from Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Reds have joined the race for the left-back, but face competition if they want to land his signature.
Davies, 24, is out of contract at Bayern at the end of the season and will be available to discuss terms over a pre-contract deal from January onwards.
However, any deal is expected to include a “huge” signing on fee and wages in the absence of a transfer fee, and the Reds are likely to be priced out of a move.
Liverpool’s interest comes as a result of uncertainty over the future of Andy Robertson due to his inconsistent performances so far this season.
However, Davies is considered one of the world’s best in his position and the recruitment team are keeping a close eye on his situation in case a deal presents itself.
Liverpool eye move to sign Alphonso Davies after ‘huge’ twist
Davies has a wealth of experience at the very top level despite his age, having made over 200 appearances for Bayern while picking up 56 caps for Canada.
As a result of his experience and availability on a free, the flying left-back has attracted the interest of every elite club across Europe who are keeping a close eye on his situation.
Real Madrid, however, remain the favourites in the race to land his signature and sources say they have been working on a deal and waiting for his contract to tick down.
Los Blancos are also still pursuing a deal to land Trent Alexander-Arnold in similar fashion, as the right-back remains 50-50 on leaving Anfield at the end of the season.

Despite this, Liverpool remain confident of keeping the right-back, but have begun assessing their options on the opposite side of the defence amid doubts over Robertson’s future.
