Altay Bayindir is finished – Three decisions Ruben Amorim got spot-on vs Sunderland
Ruben Amorim relieved some of the pressure on his shoulders with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Sunderland at Old Trafford.
Amorim could be just games away from being sacked, having lost two of his last three games in charge, facing defeat against Man City and Brentford before Man United welcomed the Black Cats.
However, he may have bought himself more time after first-half goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesko, making Regis Le Bris‘ side look no better than a mid-table Championship side.
Michael Carrick has been tipped to replace Amorim, and so too have several Premier League managers, but he claimed an all-important win at home against Sunderland.
Senne Lammens replaces Altay Bayindir
Man United splashed £18million on Lammens during the summer, and despite his arrival, Altay Bayindir kept his spot between the sticks, with Amorim ignoring the outside cries.
The inexperienced Belgian was finally handed his first start against the Black Cats, and what a good decision it was as United claimed a much-needed victory against the newly promoted side.
He was cool, calm, and collected in possession, also making a couple of significant saves in front of the United faithful, and that could spell bad news for Bayindir’s spell in the team.
Mason Mount given the nod at Old Trafford
The decision to start Mount was questioned as soon as the lineups were confirmed, but just eight minutes into proceedings and he proved his doubters wrong against Sunderland.

It was an incredible first touch to set himself up in the penalty area, and while that was his only real impact at Old Trafford, it was an important one which set the tone for the rest of the game.
Supporters will be expecting more from him now, given he only has one goal and one assist so far this season, but the early signs are positive for the 26-year-old.
Harry Maguire dropped after a horror show vs Brentford
Harry Maguire was torn to shreds against Brentford, with one of the Bees’ goals being placed completely on his shoulders. He deserved to be dropped straight away.
Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Luke Shaw made up the backline, and while Maguire came on for the final few minutes, he was nowhere near the pitch and unable to cause damage.
Amorim has called for more leaders in the team, so dropping one of his loudest voices could not have been an easy decision, but it had to be done against the Black Cats due to their pace in attack.
