Amad Diallo sends message to Sunderland fans after Coventry win
Amad Diallo showed his support for former club Sunderland as they sealed a dramatic win over Frank Lampard’s Coventry City.
Sunderland booked their place in the Championship play-off final after a late winner in stoppage time of extra time, securing a 3-2 aggregate victory.
Sunderland held a 2-1 advantage over Coventry from the first leg on 9 May and looked to be in control of the tie. However, Ephron Mason-Clark struck to level the score on aggregate and take the match into extra time.
With penalties looming, Daniel Ballard rose highest to head in a dramatic winner, sending Sunderland to Wembley where they’ll face Sheffield United for a place in the Premier League.
It appears they had backing from a fan favourite and former player in that tie, by the latest social media post from Man United winger Amad.

Amad Diallo backs Sunderland during dramatic play-off win
The winger enjoyed a standout loan spell in the North East during the 2022/23 season, scoring 14 goals and providing four assists for Sunderland.
Amad showed his support for Sunderland ahead of their crucial clash with Coventry and followed up after the dramatic win with another post — first revealing he was in the stands, then reposting the victory celebrations on social media.

The Ivorian clearly still holds a strong connection with the club, and Football Insider previously revealed that Amad wanted to return to Sunderland after struggling for game time under Erik ten Hag.
Since then, the winger has become a key figure for Manchester United under Ruben Amorim, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists so far this season.

Sunderland prepare for Jobe Bellingham bids as top clubs circle
Promotion to the Premier League could prove vital for the side hopes of keeping hold of star players, with Football Insider revealing that Sunderland are resigned to losing Jobe Bellingham if they remain in the Championship.
The young midfielder has attracted serious interest from both the Premier League and across Europe, with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig among the clubs tracking him.
A fee in the region of £25 million has been touted, and that kind of offer may be too difficult to turn down — particularly if Sunderland fail to secure top-flight football for next season.
