Amadou Onana pictured in mask as he posts new Aston Villa injury update
Amadou Onana has sent an encouraging three-word message to Aston Villa fans as the midfielder attempts to return from injury.
The 23-year-old’s season has been hampered by injuries, having not featured since the 2-0 defeat to Wolves on 1 February, having been replaced after just 45 minutes.
That marked his first appearance in three matches, having also been injured during the 2-2 draw with Arsenal in January, leaving Unai Emery struggling for options in midfield.
Boubacar Kamara, who has dealt Villa another injury blow, had been deputising at centre-back alongside Tyrone Mings, with Ezri Konsa and Pau Torres also sidelined.

Amadou Onana offers Aston Villa hope in new social media post
Taking to Instagram [20 February], Onana shared a photo of himself wearing an oxygen mask alongside the caption: “Step by step…” with a flexed muscle emoji.
The midfielder has only started 14 of Villa’s 26 league matches so far this season, having also struggled to remain fit for long periods of time during his two-year spell at Everton.
Supporters are desperate for the Belgian international to return, with Aston Villa “legend” John McGinn and Youri Tielemans currently being trusted to hold down the midfield.

Unai Emery preparing for season-defining clashes at Villa Park
Football Insider verdict
While supporters will be buzzing to be through to the knockout stages of the Champions League, Emery will still be focused on climbing up the Premier League table.
Currently ninth in the table, the Villans have clearly struggled to replicate their performances from last season across all competitions, with the manager crying out for reinforcements in the summer.
Upcoming games against Chelsea and Crystal Palace could make or break a top-four finish for Villa this term, and the team has the chance to get even further in the FA Cup when facing Cardiff City at home.
Jhon Duran’s big-money exit from Aston Villa has certainly thrown a spanner in the works, but with Ollie Watkins looking back to his sharp best, the return of Onana could be enough of a boost for the end of the season.
