Amadou Onana reacts to Morgan Rogers announcement at Aston Villa amid exit rumours
Amadou Onana reacted to an announcement made by Aston Villa concerning star man Morgan Rogers amid rumours of an exit this summer.
Few players have enjoyed a better season than the Villain’s talented attacking midfielder who has racked up eight goals and eight assists in a side stacked with offensive talent.
Having appeared just 11 times in the Premier League last season, Rogers has become a mainstay in Unai Emery’s side, featuring in all but one of Villa’s league games in a multitude of positions.
Whilst most comfortable behind the striker, the former Middlesbrough man has shown his versatility, regularly appearing on the right wing to accommodate for January loan signing Marco Asensio.

Morgan Rogers nominated for Premier League Player of the Month
Having scored once and assisted four more for Villa during April, Rogers has been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award, alongside Rayan Ait-Nouri, Jorgen Strand Larsen, Ryan Sessegnon, Harvey Barnes, Alexis Mac Allister, and Jacob Murphy.
Following the announcement, the Villains shared a message on Instagram to their star man, captioned: “One goal, four assists. Morgan has been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month for April”.
The 22-year-old’s teammate Onana then reacted to the post by liking it, showing his support for the talented England international.
Morgan Rogers linked with summer switch to Liverpool and Man City
Football Insider Verdict
The 22-year-old’s fine performances under Emery this season have led to plenty of interest from some of England’s biggest teams.
Man City are interested in re-signing Rogers, having let the attacking midfielder leave the Etihad back in 2023.
The Sky Blues are in need of a new creative midfielder with Kevin De Bruyne departing this summer.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also interested in Rogers alongside a number of other attacking options as the Reds look to arm Arne Slot with the weapons he needs to fight for back-to-back Premier League titles.
However, whilst a move may be tempting for the young star, both clubs are stuffed to the brim with offensive talent and there is a risk a move could hamper the 22-year-old’s development.
With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Rogers may be well-advised to remain with his current side until after that tournament, when he has had a chance to showcase his talents to a global audience.
