Amanda Staveley cited as Kieran Maguire drops view on ‘interesting’ behind-the-scenes Newcastle development

The new Newcastle United documentary has given fans insight into the ‘inner circle of decision-making’ at the club.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about his thoughts on Newcastle’s decision to let documentary cameras film their behind-the-scenes business deals.

The Tyneside club recently launched a docuseries with Amazon Prime titled ‘We are Newcastle’ focusing on the day-to-day running of the club by their new ownership.

The four-part series takes fans behind the scenes with a focus on the new owners and the business deals they have struck since taking charge at St James’ Park.

It controversially leaked a major deal between Newcastle and Adidas last week, in an episode that was quickly taken off air by Amazon.

Maguire admitted that it was an ‘interesting’ decision by Newcastle to allow cameras to provide fans with such insight into the club’s behind-the-scenes business.

I think it’s an interesting decision made by the Newcastle hierarchy,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

It does increase, I think, the degree of justification for the show.

It also allows viewers and fans to see the inner workings and the sort of inner circle of decision-making processes, which is something which we don’t usually have access to.

I think there’ve been one or two missteps in the show’s production which should really have been spotted a little bit earlier.

But it does show I think that Amanda Staveley and her team are open and are willing to show the Newcastle fan base exactly what they’re trying to do on behalf of the fans in order to progress the club.
