‘Amazing’ Miguel Almiron development is ‘huge for Newcastle United’ – pundit
Miguel Almiron’s newfound form is “huge” for Newcastle United and their chances fo finishing in the European places.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s latest performance.
Almiron scored his second and third goals of the season as Newcastle beat Fulham 4-1 on Saturday (1 October).
The Paraguayan’s first strike has earned much praise with Alan Shearer dubbing the tight-angle volley a potential goal of the season contender on Match of the Day (1 October).
Almiron has never scored more than eight in a single season for the Magpies.
Kenny claims the winger can reach double figures this season and help Newcastle push for a European finish.
“Amazing goal, two more for him. 10 goals in a season can be worth a couple of places at the end of the year,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Almiron scored a load of goals in pre-season, I remember talking about it. So many players have gone to another level under Eddie Howe and we were thinking Almiron would be the next one.
“Maybe it doesn’t look like he has improved that much but he scored once last season. I think he went 30-odd games without scoring.
“Now he has three in eight this year. With the confidence it looks like he has, there is no reason he can’t get 10 or more goals this season.
“That would be huge for Newcastle because Wilson will get double figures if he is fit, you think Isak will too.

“So to have another player up there, more goals, more wins. It’s what you need when you are a team who wants to be where Newcastle want to be.
“Everyone needs to be contributing in a big way.”
In other news, a medical insider has revealed Alexander Isak’s Newcastle United return date and it is “worse than we feared”.
