Andoni Iraola could leave Bournemouth for ‘£5m’ after ‘amazing’ Real Madrid claim
Bournemouth are in the mix for Champions League qualification this term and Andoni Iraola’s work as manager has not gone unnoticed.
Iraola, 42, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid following the Cherries’ sensational form in the 2024-25 campaign.
The Spanish boss, who joined Bournemouth in 2023 from Rayo Vallecano, is only under contract until June 2026.
Industry insider Mick Brown has previously told Football Insider that the Cherries are doing everything in their power to agree a new deal with Iraola.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has had his say on the former Athletic Bilbao defender making a return to Madrid.

Wyness shares ‘amazing’ Iraola to Real Madrid claim
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness suggested Real would only need to pay Bournemouth around £5million in compensation to lure Iraola away.
However, he claimed he would be “amazed” if Los Blancos didn’t choose Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It wouldn’t be that big of a deal to get him out of Bournemouth.
“I think you would be looking at around £5million.
“But in terms of Real Madrid, I will go on record and say that I would be amazed if it’s not Xabi Alonso making that move.
“That’s the name I expect to head to Real for next season. He’s handled himself superbly in Germany and gone through his learning as a manager.
“I think that’s nailed on.
“But anything can happen. It would be a great headline if it was Iraola – Bournemouth to Real Madrid.
“They’ve been superb under Iraola this season. I don’t think it will happen, but if it did – the cost would be about £5million.”

Bournemouth star wanted by Liverpool and top clubs
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 19 February that Liverpool and other top Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen.
The Reds are set to accelerate their plans to sign a new centre-back even if Virgil van Dijk remains at Anfield.
Huijsen has a release clause worth around £55million in his contract with Bournemouth, which runs until June 2030.
