‘Andoni Iraola in pole position to replace Ange Postecoglou after Tottenham sack’
Andoni Iraola has emerged as the top target to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, according to the club’s former scout.
Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that Daniel Levy wants to hire a manager with Premier League experience.
While no decision has been made yet with regard to a replacement, work is ongoing behind the scenes to ensure the transition goes smoothly.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Postecoglou will be sacked by Tottenham regardless of what happens between now and the end of the season.
As a result, Levy has already begun identifying options to take over and is considering a number of names both domestically and across Europe.
However, Iraola is the outstanding candidate as things stand following an impressive season with Bournemouth as they currently sit 10th in the Premier League.

Andoni Iraola emerges as leading candidate for Tottenham job
Brown told Football Insider last month that Iraola is in pole position to replace Postecoglou as he is now the leading candidate for the role.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience working closely with elite managers including the likes of Ron Atkinson and Sir Alex Ferguson at Man United, has insisted Levy is working behind the scenes to find a replacement.
“They would like a manager with Premier League experience,” he told Football Insider.
“Postecoglou came in without that and never really seemed to click with the league and the demands.
“They’ll consider all of their options including managers abroad, but ideally that’s what they want, and then the question is who is available?
“It’s something they’ve been working on behind the scenes because they want to make sure it goes smoothly.
“The type of manager Tottenham want, it looks like they’ll have to pay for.
“The Bournemouth manager, Iraola, is one I know they’ve been looking at.
“He’s done very well there, and when you look at the side he’s built, the way they work and the way they’ve been together, it’s something Tottenham admire.
“At the moment, he’s the leading candidate and he’s the one they want.“

Marco Silva and Oliver Glasner on Daniel Levy’s list of targets
Brown told Football Insider in March that Marco Silva is a contender to replace Postecoglou at Tottenham after a successful season so far with Fulham.
His side sit in eighth place in the Premier League as things stand, seven places and 11 points above Spurs without the resources available in north London.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has also been linked with the role as he has just one year remaining on his deal at Selhurst Park.
As a result, Brown told Football Insider that Glasner will hold crunch talks with Palace about his future at the club and whether he will be backed in the transfer window.
