Andre Onana ‘advised’ his best option as permanent Man United transfer looms
Man United should strike an agreement with Trabzonspor if they want to get the best deal for goalkeeper Andre Onana.
That is according to ex-Aberdeen and Everton and Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that is where Man United will find the greatest value for Onana next summer.
Onana joined Trabzonspor on a season-long loan in the summer, with Man United signing Senne Lammens as his replacement.
Lammens has claimed the number one jersey at Old Trafford, whilst Onana is not set to have a future at the club following two difficult seasons in Manchester.
Andre Onana ‘advised to stay in Turkey’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes there will be little interest from Premier League clubs in Onana.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insists that Turkey is the best option to offload Onana on a permanent basis.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, I don’t think he’s done too badly over there in Turkey. He’s had three clean sheets when I checked and he’s not doing too badly, but I think he’d be best advised to stay in Turkey, to be honest.
“I don’t think there will be that many clubs looking to take him back in the Premier League at the moment. Certainly not in January. I don’t see that happening.
“So I think he’s best advised in Turkey. I think they’re going to try and do a deal with Trabzonspor. That is where they’re going to get the best value for him, I believe, right now.
“And I don’t think there’s going to be a big queue of, as I say, Premier League clubs willing to pay for Onana to come back. So United will take a hit, as they’ve done.
“They’ve decided their strategy was to clear out, as we know, so many people. They claim that were mistakes, but at the moment, and we saw it last night, there isn’t really that group right now really leading forward, and have they really replaced some of the people they’ve got rid of at a loss with better options? The jury’s very much still out on that.”

Altay Bayindir could also depart
Man United could also accept an offer for Altay Bayindir following his unconvincing displays in-between the sticks.
Bayindir started the season as the number one goalkeeper, but the arrival of Lammens means the 27-year-old is now second choice.
The Turkey international will get little game time at Old Trafford due to the club being out of the Carabao Cup and not in European competition this season.
