Andreas Pereira sends Alex Iwobi ‘we need you’ warning at Fulham

Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira sent a message warning his teammate Alex Iwobi after the winger’s latest post on social media.

The Cottagers will take on Tottenham on Saturday (15 March), and they are still harbouring hopes of qualifying for Europe this season.

The match will see two managers experiencing opposing fates this season. Marco Silva has been tipped to move to a “big” club, whilst Ange Postecoglou could be sacked come the season’s end.

Pereira was linked with a move away from Fulham in January, but he has put transfer links behind him, and the former Man United man has re-established himself as a key figure at Craven Cottage.

Iwobi has been a standout performer this season, registering his highest goals total in a season already, notching seven strikes.

The former Arsenal man’s versatility has allowed Silva to deploy him at both left and right-wing, central-midfield, and even right wing-back on one occasion.

Fulham must give Marco Silva everything or risk loss to a ‘big’ club

Football Insider Verdict

Silva has been one of the most transformative managerial hiring’s made by an English club in recent years.

Kieran McKenna and Thomas Frank are obvious candidates for that title, but much like Fulham this season, the Portuguese manager is going under-the-radar.

When he took over, the Whites had suffered their second relegation in three years, earning the unwanted status as a “yo-yo” club.

Since then, one of the most dominant Championship title-winning campaigns followed, and Fulham’s lowest finish since their promotion was 13th.

Silva has achieved all this, whilst losing Aleksandar Mitrovic and Joao Palhinha in back-to-back transfer windows, without any significant expenditure to replace him.

However, the Portuguese manager is notoriously ambitious, as seen with his move to Everton from Watford in January 2018, and without the right support from owner Shahid Khan, there is a risk that the manager will look to move on soon.

If he does, the Whites will undoubtedly struggle, and a return to England’s second-tier would become a concerning, and realistic proposition.
