
Andrew Robertson unhappy in new Liverpool social media message
Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson has admitted the 3-2 Champions League defeat to PSV on Wednesday (January 29) was “not the result we wanted.”
The 30-year-old captained Arne Slot’s side before being hooked off the in 56th minute as they let their 100 per cent Champions League record slip.
Liverpool had already secured a spot in the last 16 thanks to a 2-1 win over French side Lille in their previous European fixture.
Gody Gakpo opened the scoring from the penalty spot against his boyhood club from the penalty spot in the 38th minute after Joey Veerman tripped Federico Chiesa.
Johan Bakayoko equalised for the Dutch side seven minutes later before Harvey Elliott restored Liverpool’s lead, latching on to Walter Benitez’s parry from Chiesa’s initial shot.
Liverpool were then pinned back once again thanks to a 45th-minute goal from Ismael Saibari, sending the two sides level at the break.
In-form striker Ricardo Pepi scored PSV’s third, securing the win and ending Liverpool’s 100 per cent Champions League record.

The left-back hasn’t had the same impact this season as he had in previous campaigns, starting 24 of his 29 games across all competitions, scoring zero goals, and providing just one assist in his 2006 minutes of action.
The Scotland international was clearly unhappy with the result but was delighted with their progress to the round of 16, taking to Instagram to say: “Not the result we wanted but a good campaign over all!
Last 16 soon.”

Liverpool’s attention will return to the Premier League on Saturday (February 1) as they prepare for a trip to high-flying Bournemouth.
