Andy Couzens delivers two-word Twitter verdict on 25-year-old Leeds key man

Andy Couzens believes Chris Wood’s PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award for January is “well deserved” after the striker put in some stellar performances for Leeds last month.

Wood, 25, was handed the award after scoring six goals in just four league games throughout January, after teammate Pontus Jansson won the same award in December.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, former Leeds star Couzens believes the New Zealand international is worthy of the award as he continues to shine in Garry Monk’s side.

Former Leicester City striker Wood has now taken his tally to 21 goals in 33 league and cup appearances, as the Yorkshire giants continue to rival the Championship’s elite in the top six.

Wood’s goals have propelled Leeds to a lofty fifth place, sitting just two points off third and seven points off second placed Brighton, with the top two gaining automatic promotion.

Leeds’ number nine is now expected to start against Cardiff on Saturday, as Monk looks to his target man to fire the former Champions League side to an 18th league win of the season.

A win for Wood and Monk could see Leeds climb to third in the league within four points of Brighton, if the Seagulls, Huddersfield and Reading all lose.

As well as spells with Blackpool and Carlisle, academy product Couzens made 37 appearances for Leeds between 1993 and 1997.

In other Leeds news, this winger is not good enough and should not be offered a new contract.
