Andy Couzens: Leeds should re-sign 32-year-old who left five years ago

By Harvey Byrne

Former midfielder Andy Couzens has told that Leeds should look to re-sign Alex Bruce if they miss out on Kyle Bartley this summer.

The Yorkshire giants are reportedly keen on bringing Bartley back to the club this summer after he starred on loan from Premier League side Swansea in the last campaign.

However, the departure of manager Garry Monk is thought to have thrown a spanner into any prospective deal and his new club Middlesbrough are also said to be in the hunt for the 26-year-old.

Now, while Couzens has told on his personal Twitter account that it would be great if the club could sign Bartley again, he has also put Bruce’s name forward following his release from Hull this summer.

Bruce has history at Leeds also and he was brought to the club in 2010 under Simon Grayson before leaving for Hull two years later in 2012 after appearing 33 times for the Yorkshire giants.

He is also just coming off the back of a disappointing season personally after injury ruled him out for the first half of the campaign, while he appeared just twice for Wigan on loan in the second half.

The experienced centre-back will now be looking to get his career back on track, while last week appointment Thomas Christiansen will be looking to bring in his own players.

In other Leeds news, James Beattie has sent his heartfelt farewell to the Whites’ support.
