Former Leeds midfielder Andy Couzens reacted very positively on Twitter to the news that Pontus Jansson had signed permanently with the club.

The Yorkshire giants announced via their official Twitter account on Thursday evening that the 25-year-old centre-back had agreed to a permanent move in the summer after starring in an initial loan move for the club.

The Sweden international has featured 23 times for Garry Monk’s side in all competitions after joining from Torino in the summer and has been pivotal the club’s success in the league campaign.

Couzens shared on his personal Twitter account after the announcement that it was “great news” while also stating that he hopes the club are a top flight side when he signs.

“Great news for all Leeds fans let’s hope he is a premiership player when he signs,” wrote Couzens.

Leeds are currently sat in fourth place in the English second tier with the partnership of Jansson and Kyle Bartley at the back proving integral for the side.

The Swedish player scored a late goal in Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over Blackburn to give his side all three points, while he will also be looking to put in another top quality display against Huddersfield on Sunday.

It is an encounter which sees fourth take on fifth with two points separating the Yorkshire pair and Leeds will be eager to pick up another win in their quest for promotion.
