Andy Robertson sends emotional goodbye message after Liverpool exit confirmed

Andy Robertson left an emotional message on social media dedicated to a Liverpool teammate who has confirmed their departure from the club.

Robertson has endured a difficult season at Anfield, with ongoing speculation that Arne Slot is set to target reinforcements at left-back this summer.

Despite the side’s Premier League title triumph, Robertson has faced criticism from Liverpool supporters, with some even calling for the club to sell him amid concerns over form and fitness.

For years, Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold were cornerstones of Jurgen Klopp’s side, flying down the flanks and playing key roles in Liverpool’s domestic and European success. But that era is now coming to an end.

Alexander-Arnold has sealed a move to Real Madrid, leaving the club before his contract officially expired and now, with his own Liverpool future uncertain, Robertson shared a heartfelt farewell to another teammate who has also confirmed their exit from Anfield.

Caoimhin Kelleher makes Brentford move official after Liverpool exit

It was confirmed on 3 June that Caoimhin Kelleher has completed a move to Brentford, as the Bees saw their goalkeeper Mark Flekken depart for Bayer Leverkusen.

Robertson paid tribute to his departing teammate with a heartfelt Instagram post, sharing a photo of the pair celebrating and the caption: “Absolute legend. So happy for you mate, you will be missed.”

Earlier in the season, Football Insider revealed that Kelleher was keen to leave Liverpool after growing frustrated with limited minutes, especially with the impending arrival of new goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Liverpool were open to selling the Republic of Ireland international, with just one year remaining on his deal at Anfield. Several Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa and Chelsea, expressed interest in Kelleher but Brentford acted swiftly to get the deal done.

He enjoyed an impressive 2024/25 campaign in Alisson’s absence, making 20 appearances and keeping nine clean sheets across all competitions.

Liverpool eye Milos Kerkez as Andy Robertson’s long-term successor

While Liverpool moved early to sign Mamardashvili last summer, the focus now appears to have shifted to finding a long-term successor for Robertson.

Football Insider revealed that Liverpool are ready to match Bournemouth’s £45million valuation for Milos Kerkez, as the Hungarian left-back continues to attract top-level interest.

Kerkez is eager to leave the Cherries, having expressed his desire to move on in private, and Liverpool see him as a key part of Slot’s rebuilding plans at Anfield.

With Robertson’s form under the microscope throughout last season, the push for Kerkez signals a decisive step toward reshaping the defensive line for the future.
