Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker has given his prediction for Rangers’ upcoming clash against Kilmarnock on Saturday.
Writing in his column on the Sky Sports website, Walker has tipped the Gers to defeat the Rugby Park side for the first time this season, with an emphatic 3-1 victory.
His tip for ‘key player’ is striker Alfredo Morelos, and he believes that the appointment of Steven Gerrard as the new boss at Ibrox “should give everyone at Ibrox a huge lift.”
The game is a must-win for the Gers, who find themselves three points behind Aberdeen in the battle for second place in the Scottish Premiership table, with the teams set to meet at Pittodrie on Tuesday night.
The Gers have yet to defeat Kilmarnock in the league this season, having lost two and drawn of the previous three matches between the teams.
Football Insider verdict
This could be a good time for the Gers to play Kilmarnock, as the fans will undeniably be up for the game following the appointment of Gerrard, and Killie seem to have run out of steam in the past few weeks following their incredible run earlier this season under Steve Clarke. It will be interesting to see if Jimmy Nicholl, who is in charge of the Gers for the rest of the season, is able to get a performance out of a team who looked broken following their 4-0 loss to Celtic last week. The Gers really do need to win the game if they want to have any chance of finishing in second place in the league this season, and fans will be demanding a performance in what is the last home game of the season. Only time will tell but perhaps can send their supporters home happy for once and end what has been a miserable season overall on a high note.
