Ange Postecoglou cited amid ‘incredible’ Newcastle United claim – pundit

Frank McAvennie has hailed Newcastle boss Eddie Howe for his side’s recent results.

But, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic and West Ham striker is “delighted” he didn’t take the job at Parkhead before Ange Postecoglou was appointed.

Newcastle are third in the Premier League with four wins from their last five games and have scored 13 goals in their last three, including putting six past Tottenham last weekend (23 April).

The Magpies are two points clear of Man United in fourth, who have a game in hand, but are nine points clear of fifth placed Liverpool in their hunt for a Champions League spot.

As quoted by the Mirror (29 April), skipper Kieran Trippier was full of praise for his manager and how he has improved the team.

Trippier hailed the “unbelievable” Newcastle boss claiming the players all “love him” and insisted he deserves the chance to test himself in the Champions League.

McAvennie claimed the Magpies haven’t got the plaudits they deserve for the epic win over Tottenham last weekend.

Newcastle are not getting the credit they should get,” he told Football Insider.

Celtic nearly got Eddie Howe, everyone here is delighted we did not because of Ange but it just shows you what a good manager he is.

He is bringing players through who were out the door. They were leaving and he has got these boys becoming world beaters now, it is incredible.
