Ange Postecoglou closes in on sensational Celtic return – ‘Keep an eye on this’
Ange Postecoglou is emerging as the front-runner for a sensational return to Celtic when Martin O’Neill departs in the summer.
O’Neill stepped in as the interim manager following Wilfried Nancy‘s dismissal earlier this month and will take charge until the end of the season.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Postecoglou is eyeing a return to Celtic following a difficult stint in the Premier League.
He remains very highly thought of at Parkhead and there is a belief that he would be the man to get them back to winning ways after what looks set to be a disappointing season.
Celtic are currently third in the league table, six points behind league leaders Hearts and two behind Rangers, and are seeing their title hopes fading.

Ange Postecoglou eyes sensational Celtic return
Football Insider revealed in October that Postecoglou was unlikely to return to Celtic and planned to take a break from football, leading them to go with Nancy instead.
However, there is now a belief that he will be prepared to return to Glasgow after some time away, with the opportunity set to arise in the summer.
“Postecoglou returning to Celtic is certainly a possibility,” Brown told Football Insider.
“It’s something he will be interested in after his struggles in the Premier League, he can go back to a place where he is still very highly thought of and has had success before.
“I think it does highlight the gap between Scottish football and the Premier League.
“His record at Tottenham and Nottingham Forest was awful, and the way he wanted to set his teams up would not work against their higher quality opponents.
“At Celtic, though, that high line and relentless attacking football means they can dominate most of the teams they’re going to come up against.

“From Celtic’s point of view, they want to get back to winning things because it’s been a very poor season, and they know he can win trophies in Scotland.
“Keep an eye on this one because I can definitely see it happening and I think it would be good for everybody involved.”
Martin O’Neill left frustrated with Celtic’s transfer plans
In what has been a poor season for Celtic so far, they are showing little sign of improvements, with ongoing issues both on and off the pitch.
Brown told Football Insider on 26 January that O’Neill has been left frustrated at Celtic given the lack of backing he has received in the transfer market.
Julian Araujo arrived under Nancy’s leadership, with Tomas Cvancara the only signing made under O’Neill, leading to questions about the board’s backing.

Football Insider revealed on 9 January that O’Neill hoped to be backed by Celtic in the January window with at least two major additions on his radar.
However, the interim boss is set to walk away at the end of the season, and has been left frustrated by their lack of activity as he had hoped to strengthen his squad.
