Ange Postecoglou: Expert shares ‘imminent’ Tottenham sack update
Ange Postecoglou is not under the immediate threat of being sacked by Tottenham but Daniel Levy has a history of “pulling the trigger to take the pressure off himself”, according to the club’s former scout.
Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected at the club and also spent time as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn, exclusively told Football Insider that pressure is growing on the boss, but no decision is set to be made yet.
There is also said to be an understanding the the manager needs further investment in his squad to help deal with the injury situation, particularly in defence.
This comes after the heavy 6-3 defeat against Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which compounded the concerns about Spurs’ back line.
Despite a number of injuries in defence, their gung-ho style played perfectly into Liverpool’s hands on the counter and cost the home side dearly.
It is the insistence on playing attacking football and leaving gaps in defence which has raised questions about Postecoglou’s management, and continues to cause concerns behind the scenes.
As a result, Brown has insisted that if things continue as they have been this season, Daniel Levy could be forced to make a decision.
Daniel Levy to make Ange Postecoglou sack decision at Tottenham
While there is no imminent pressure on the manager’s position, it is said some questions have gone unanswered as pressure continues to grow.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience working closely with top-level managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Ron Atkinson insisted that Postecoglou has to got help himself by making the necessary adjustments to his team.
“The chairman there, when the pressure come on, tends to pull the trigger,” he told Football Insider.
“He takes the pressure off of himself by sacking the manager and diverting the attention.
“I don’t think Postecoglou has done himself any favours by insisting on playing the way they do.
“He doesn’t seem to have convincing answers to some of the problems they have struggled with ever since he took over there.
“People have started asking questions of him, and he’s not giving the answers they’re looking for.
“From what I understand, he’s not in any imminent danger of being sacked.
“They’ve got the nucleus of being a very decent side, and I accept they’ve got injury problems at the moment, but they’ve got to help themselves and adapt.

“They’ll back him in January and see if they can strengthen the squad, especially because of the injuries they’ve picked up.
“But if things continue as they are, you can’t be surprised if a decision is made.“
