Ange Postecoglou ‘not happy’ with Celtic after what expert has seen

Ange Postecoglou won’t be happy if his Celtic players don’t hit the ground running when the season restarts.

That’s according to former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Celts’ upcoming game against Aberdeen.

The Australian’s side went into the winter recess nine points clear of their Glasgow rivals Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

They will face Aberdeen at Pittodrie on 17 December when the league resumes.

The Celts took on Sydney FC and Everton in a recent trip to Postecoglou’s homeland Australia during the break.

The Green and Whites lost 2-1 to Sydney FC and drew 0-0 with the Toffees, losing on penalties.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the defeat to the Aussie side (17 November), the Celtic boss said his side were “nowhere near” the level they needed to be at.

McAvennie insisted Postecoglou will not let his players get away with anything but three points.

They have got a good one to start with with Aberdeen away,” he told Football Insider.

I prefer those kind of games. No disrespect to Motherwell but if they had them at home or Ross County at home, the team could have become complacent.

Going to Aberdeen is not a given at any time of the year so they are going to have to be at their best. That is the kind of games I like, you can’t play 60 per cent and win it. I am glad it is away, gets the ball rolling.

You saw what he [Postecoglou] did in Australia, he let the boys have it. He was not happy. He let them know he was not happy.
