Ange Postecoglou told to reject Celtic offer in favour of joining alternative club
Ange Postecoglou has emerged as a potential candidate to replace Brendan Rodgers at Celtic but he has been told to reject an offer from the club.
Rodgers quit the Glasgow giants on Monday (27 October) evening, with the Hoops eight points adrift of Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.
Football Insider exclusively revealed that Celtic are set to make contact with Postecoglou about the vacant managerial position, following his Nottingham Forest exit.
Postecoglou was sacked by Forest earlier this month, after taking charge of just five Premier League games.

Ange Postecoglou would suffer same fate as Brendan Rodgers at Celtic
Postecoglou had two very successful years in charge of Celtic before leaving in the summer of 2023 to join Spurs.
However, Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the Australian should reject any offer to rejoin the Hoops.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Postecoglou would be better served looking for an international job, rather than taking charge of Celtic again.
Wyness added that if the 60-year-old returned to Glasgow, he could suffer the same fate as Rodgers.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Obviously, the clamour is for Ange Postecoglou to come back.
“It’s a possibility, but I think it’s a bit remote. We’ve just seen what happened when Brendan came back for a second time. If Ange were to come back for a second spell, could it be the same story? I don’t think he’s in the correct mental space yet to come back.
“I think Ange might be better served not coming back and looking for an international job somewhere else. There aren’t that many potential candidates for Celtic right now.”
Brendan Rodgers eyes Premier League return
Meanwhile, Rodgers is keen to return to the Premier League after quitting Celtic, sources have told Football Insider.

Sources say that the Northern Irishman believes his track record in the Premier League, at Liverpool and Leicester City, makes him an attractive proposition for English sides.
There would also be no compensation fee to hire Rodgers after his dramatic resignation, and his camp believe that could be key for clubs scouring the market for a proven top-flight manager.
