Ange Postecoglou’s odds slashed to complete surprise Premier League return

Ange Postecoglou has been out of work since October after a short, failed spell at Nottingham Forest.

The Australian manager went into the City Ground to replace Nuno Espirito Santo. However, after eight games, he failed to win a single one, losing six.

Nevertheless, despite having one of the shortest reigns in Premier League history at his last club, he continues to be linked to jobs.

At the start of December, Postecoglou was linked with the Leeds job before Daniel Farke turned the West Yorkshire side’s form around.

However, the bookies continue to back the former Spurs manager to take over at Elland Road next.

Ange Postecoglou’s odds shorten to take over at Leeds United

Farke seemed destined for the sack just weeks ago at Leeds United after the manager oversaw a terrible winless run.

However, in his last four matches, he has masterminded over two wins and two draws, including a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace in his last game.

The result has seen Leeds move up to 16th, six points away from West Ham in 18th.

However, plenty can happen between now and the end of the season, with Farke’s job potentially not safe for long.

As a result, the bookies are still taking bets on who the next Leeds manager could be.

Now, one bookmaker has Postecoglou at 5/1 to become the next boss at Elland Road.

Oddschecker on 23 December has confirmed that these odds have been shortened, as he becomes the third-favourite for the role.

Gary O’Neil is the current favourite at 5/4, while former Man United boss Erik ten Hag is next at 2/1.

What are Leeds chances of relegation as it stands?

At the start of the season, Leeds’ ambitions were to avoid relegation, and the manager is currently on course to achieve this.

The recent set of results have not only pulled them away from the drop zone, but have helped to install belief in multiple outlets that they can stay up.

On Opta on 23 December, Leeds have just a 22.56 per cent chance of being relegated, with West Ham the overwhelming favourite to come 18th at 60.71 per cent.

Therefore, if Farke is able to achieve this, it is hard to imagine he will be sacked this season.
