'Announce Hearts win' - Rangers fans rage at referee appointment ahead of Ibrox clash
Rangers fans on Twitter have reacted angrily to the news that John Beaton has been announced as the referee for the Light Blues’ upcoming match against Hearts at Ibrox on Saturday.
The appointed was announced on the SFA website a short time ago.
Rangers fans have held a grudge against the whistler following his performance in a controversial game against Hibernian in August, a game which he sent-off Ryan Jack and Hibernian went on to win 3-2.
The sending-off was later rescinded on appeal.
The news of Beaton’s appointment has not went down well with supporters of the Ibrox club, with one claiming that the referee will send off a player “just in time for the Celtic game”.
Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to the news of Beaton’s appointment:
John Beaton the ref on Saturday be aswell giving hearts the points the now. Would imagine a key player will be crippled or sent off just in time for the Celtic game also

Mind the last time Rangers played an Edinburgh club at Ibrox with John Beaton refereeing?

If John Beaton and Collum had any self respect they would chuck it, and take Boaby Mann with them

Seems fair – he always treats us with such impartiality, i can't think of a single instance in our games that he has refereed where he has made any mistakes…..

May as well not turn up and give hearts the three points now.

The Gers go into the match against Craig Levein’s side knowing that a win would cut the gap on Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic to six points with Brendan Rodgers’ side not in action until Sunday, when they face a trip to third placed Aberdeen.
Graeme Murty’s side are currently in a fine vein of form, having most recently defeated Hamilton 5-3, where Josh Windass was once again the star man has he helped himself to his second ha-trick of the season.
