Former Leeds United midfielder and current Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has said that he is expecting a tough match for the Whites when they visit Barnsley on Saturday.
Thomas Christiansen’s side come into the early kick off following a 4-1 thrashing at Molineux by Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday, which itself was preceded by an impressive 2-1 win over Middlesbrough last weekend.
Those results have ended up leaving the Whites sitting in 10th in the Championship, three points off the play off spots and 15 points adrift of the top of the table.
Barnsley meanwhile slipped to a 1-0 home defeat to high flying Cardiff City on Tuesday and are languishing down in 17th place, six points off the relegation zone and the same amount behind Leeds.
Despite the seven place gap between the sides, Prutton says that Barnsley could prove to be touch customers for the Whites, and is expecting a vociferous atmosphere at Oakwell.
Predicting a 1-1 draw for the clash, he wrote on Sky Sports’ website: “It’s always a good atmosphere at Oakwell but it usually ratchets up a notch or two when Leeds come to town.
“Barnsley won this one in January, but they’ve got almost an entirely different team now and Paul Heckingbottom has done a fantastic job there.
“Leeds were hammered at Wolves in midweek but they won’t be the first or last side to get a hiding at Molineux this season, and this is another tough trip for them. Score draw for me.”
The last meeting between the two sides ended in a 3-2 draw for the Tykes back in January, with a Chris Wood double unable to stop the home side picking up all three points thanks to a trio of goals in nine minutes.
In other Leeds transfer news, the club are eyeing up a swoop for a £40,000-a-week Premier League outcast.
