Anthony Gordon ‘hell-bent’ on leaving Everton after Sky update – pundit

Anthony Gordon is “hell-bent” on leaving Everton in the final days of the transfer window.

That’s according to former Aston Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s future.

As reported by Sky Sports on Tuesday (23 August), Chelsea are prepared to pay £60million for the Toffees’ forward.

McLeish insists the potential fee is not too much for Chelsea to pay.

“I don’t think Everton can turn that down,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“They have spent a lot of money even if the recruitment hasn’t been the best in recent years. They have spent a hell of a lot of money.

“It would be difficult to stop Anthony Gordon from leaving as well. He will probably be hell-bent on leaving if he is linked to Chelsea.

“It surprises me, that. Chelsea’s analysts will want to stand up and make sure this deal is a no-brainer. Every manager should know the quality of a player and I’m sure Chelsea know.

“Gordon is playing in a hugely recognised and richest league in the world. To rate him at that kind of price as such a young player, it’s a hell of a lot.

“If they think his potential is worth that then it isn’t a deal that is too much for a team like Chelsea to be spending.”

Gordon has three years left on his contract at Goodison Park after signing a five-year deal in 2020.

The Toffees sit 17th in the Premier League after failing to win any of their three opening games of the season.
