Anthony Gordon, Luis Diaz: Liverpool work on late double deal after talks

Liverpool are willing to sell Colombian winger Luis Diaz before the end of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Both Barcelona and PSG were interested in the 27-year-old earlier in the window but have since moved on to other targets.

Liverpool would still be open to a sale for Diaz if their £50m price tag is met despite agreeing to Fabio Carvalho’s £27.5 million sale to Brentford on Saturday.

Arne Slot’s side have tried to sign a left-sided forward this summer and held talks over a player-exchange deal involving Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon but could not secure an agreement.

Gordon was targeted as a younger and more dynamic alternative to Diaz on the left flank, and the latest from Anfield source’s is that the club’s interest remains “active” going into the final three weeks of the summer window.

The Merseyside club remain the only side in Europe’s top five leagues to not sign a player so far this transfer window but they are active behind the scenes.

Liverpool are working on a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi and are confident of securing an agreement following further talks in the last 24 hours.

Football Insider revealed (August 8) Liverpool have registered their interest in Adrien Rabiot in case their move for Zubimendi collapses.

Liverpool open to Luis Diaz sale as overhaul intensifies

Diaz made 47 starts across 56 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 13 goals and supplying five assists from all his matches.

He was the first choice on the left side of Liverpool’s attack in the second half of the campaign and was preferred by ex-manager Jurgen Klopp in that position to Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez.

The tenacious winger played a starring role in Colombia’s Copa America campaign that saw them lose 1-0 to Argentina in the final.

Liverpool recently returned from a profitable United States tour with wins over Real Betis, Arsenal, and Manchester United.

They will now face Spanish sides Sevilla and Las Palmas at Anfield in preparation for the new Premier League season.
