Anthony Gordon sends two-word message to Newcastle fans
Newcastle star Anthony Gordon has taken to social media to wish the fans a “Merry Christmas” after their 3-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa on Boxing Day (December 26).
The 23-year-old gave Newcastle the lead at St James’ Park after just two minutes, beating Emiliano Martinez in the Aston Villa goal with a lovely curling effort.
Villa forward Jhon Duran then received a controversial straight red card after seemingly lashing out at Fabian Schar while running through on goal.
With the visitors down to ten men, Newcastle turned the screw, doubling their lead just before the hour mark through a goal from Alexander Isak.
Joelinton then capped off a fine performance with a goal in added time to secure a valuable three points against their fellow Champions League qualification hopefuls.

Newcastle’s win over Aston Villa takes them into fifth with eight wins, five draws, five defeats, and 29 points from their 18 games.
Howe’s side have now won their last four games across all competitions, navigating through a rough patch of form having previously gone four without a win.
Gordon has been key to their recent success, starting 18 of his 21 games across all competitions, scoring four goals, and providing four assists in 1568 minutes of action.
The England international took to Instagram to celebrate their impressive win over Aston Villa, giving the fans the gift of three points, simply saying: “Merry Christmas.”
Newcastle travel to Ruben Amorim’s struggling Man United side for their last game of 2024 on Monday (December 30).
Howe’s side have a tricky run of fixtures at the start of the new year, first heading to Tottenham in the Premier League on January 4 before facing Arsenal in the League Cup semi-final three days later.
