Anthony Gordon to Liverpool whispers intensify as Anfield star posts new message

Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has taken to social media to post an image of him and Newcastle United ace Anthony Gordon looking chummy while on England duty.

Both Jones, 23, and Gordon, 23, are on international duty as they prepare for their UEFA Nations League games against Greece and the Republic of Ireland.

Lee Carsley’s final squad as interim England manager has been rocked by an injury crisis, with eight players opting to return to their clubs instead of representing their country.

Players such as Jones and Gordon, who have largely been on the periphery, will be hoping to grasp this opportunity with both hands and convince incoming manager Thomas Tuchel they should be bonafide starters.

Curtis Jones acting as ‘agent’ in Anthony Gordon to Liverpool deal?

Liverpool held summer talks about signing the former Everton winger as part of a swap deal involving Joe Gomez but they collapsed at the eleventh hour.

Newcastle were able to sell academy products Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to help ease their PSR troubles rather than resort to letting their star man go.

Gordon has since signed a new deal at the club, keeping him at St James’ Park for an undisclosed amount of time with the club simply describing it as ‘long-term’.

Still, Jones has got the rumour mill turning with his latest Instagram post of him and Gordon spending time together while with England.

Both players have had fantastic starts to the season with their respective clubs; Jones is finally starting to establish himself as a starter at Liverpool as they sit at the top of the Premier League, and Gordon is undroppable for Newcastle.

England will be out for revenge in their game against Greece on Thursday (November 14) after losing 2-1 in their previous fixture.
