‘Antoine Semenyo must leave Bournemouth with Milos Kerkez’ – Major update

Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo “must” leave the club sooner rather than later along with teammates Milos Kerkez, says Tim Sherwood.

Justin Kluivert and Dean Huijsen are also tipped to move on, and all featured in the 5-0 dismantling of surprise Premier League title challengers, Nottingham Forest, on Saturday (25 January).

Semenyo has been in fine form this season and is linked with a move to Newcastle, and his strike against Forest took his tally to seven goals this season, with three assists.

Kerkez, who is being eyed as an Andy Robertson replacement at Liverpool, had a quieter game against the Tricky Trees, but his form this season now has him in the conversation of best left-backs in the league.

“Semenyo, without doubt, must leave the football club, Kluivert the way he’s carrying on, Kerkez will leave, Huijsen we’ve talked about, the centre-half.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, former Tottenham manager, Sherwood, said (1.30pm): “Bournemouth cannot keep these players. If the Liverpool’s and the Arsenals and the Chelsea’s, Man United who need players [come calling]. They’ve got better players than Man United have.

“The manager, he’s been allowed to develop in the Premier League at a club with very little expectation and it’s a dream job for him, but he’s had to create that himself because when he went in there it was very, very difficult.”

Football Insider Verdict

The Cherries now find themselves in a position that so many have before them, they have become too good.

The Premier League is as competitive as it has ever been, but there is still a discrepancy between the spending power of the teams at the top, and the teams at the bottom.

Bournemouth are now one of the teams at the top, besting Newcastle, Forest, Arsenal, Man City and Man United in a phenomenal season, but they are still working on a smaller budget, with their record transfer being Evanilson last summer, for £40.2million [BBC Sport].

Due to their budget restrictions, savvy recruitment of younger players has allowed them to build a competitive side for a cheaper cost, Kerkez was brought in as a 19-year-old and Semenyo as a 22-year-old.

Justin Kluivert Bournemouth
Bournemouth will be looking to keep Justin Kluivert after his heroics this season.

Now the big clubs are looking to make use of Bournemouth’s development for their own gain, however, the Cherries must be wise to when they should sell.

Leicester City sold N’Golo Kante, Danny Drinkwater and Riyad Mahrez following their Premier League title win in 2016, and just eight years later were playing in the Championship, Bournemouth must be smart about which of their players they choose to cash-in on to avoid a similar fate.
