Antoine Semenyo’s ‘updated price-tag’ revealed amid new Liverpool update

Bournemouth are not set to let Antoine Semenyo leave for a small fee in January or next summer following his impressive start to the 2025-26 season.

Antoine Semenyo enjoyed a breakout 2024-25 season at the Vitality Stadium, and he has continued in a similar vein of form this term with six goals in his first eight Premier League appearances in 2025-26.

Football Insider revealed during the summer window that interested clubs had been told Bournemouth were prepared to accept offers for Semenyo ahead of the new season, but that stance soon changed.

Semenyo signed a brand new five-year contract with Bournemouth in July, putting rumours around a potential imminent departure to bed, but long-term doubts around his future still remain.

Liverpool are long-time admirers of Semenyo and are believed to have an advantage in the race to sign him due to sporting director Richard Hughes’ strong relationship with the Cherries, but the south-coast side will not allow their star man to leave for a pittance anytime soon.

Bournemouth to demand at least £75million for Semenyo

Semenyo is known to have a confidential release clause written into his Bournemouth contract, but Football Insider recently revealed that nothing will change regarding Liverpool’s interest in Semenyo as a number of other top Premier League clubs also remain in the race for his signature.

According to a new report from the Daily Mail (23 October), the Cherries will demand upwards of £75million for Semenyo when the time is right to sell him, but interest from Liverpool is “not advanced” at this stage.

The report also states that Bournemouth are set to be “extremely reluctant” to entertain a conversation around selling Semenyo in January, and so any move is more likely be slated for next summer.

It is thought that it would take a huge offer to tempt them into even thinking about allowing him to leave in the new year, and their valuation of his services could even creep upwards if he continues to shine this season.

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah doubts could force Semenyo move

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (21 October) that Liverpool have no plans to sell Mo Salah in January or next summer, but the club will no doubt be aware of his drop-off in form this season compared to last.

The 33-year-old notched an incredible 47 Premier League goal contributions last season, but he has only managed four so far this season, with none in any of his last five appearances in all competitions.

Arne Slot dropped Salah against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday (22 October), meaning he has now not started in either of the Reds last two Champions League games, and they clearly did not miss him as they romped to a 5-1 win against their German opponents.

The introduction of players like Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike has taken the shine off of Salah and made it so he does not need to be Slot’s main man, but he is clearly struggling to come to terms with that fact right now.

Given his age and current form, it would certainly not come as a surprise to see Liverpool make a move for Semenyo in January to replace Salah going forward, especially as they aim to win successive Premier League titles for the first time.
