Anton Stach: German media rave about Leeds United star’s cameo vs Switzerland
Anton Stach’s cameo in Germany’s 4-3 victory over Switzerland has received heavy praise from the media.
The Leeds United star earned a rare cap on Friday as he was rewarded for his form in the Premier League.
The midfielder was brought on in the 80th-minute, and was quick to make an impression before the visitors netted a late winner.
Stach’s attacking awareness was particularly praised by the media as Germany continued their 2026 World Cup preparations in style.
Below, Football Insider has examined how Stach’s brilliant form could benefit Leeds long-term.

While Stach may only have three German senior caps to his name, he did not look out of place on Friday.
Coming on late in the game, he did not put a foot wrong as he completed all of his passes, had two touches in the opposition box and even recovered the ball once.

This will have come as little surprise to the Elland Road faithful, with Stach being excellent for Leeds United for some weeks now.
However, despite not having long to impress on the pitch, his performance was noticed by the German media, who were quick to praise the 27-year-old.
Sportschau on 27 March commented: “Pascal Gross and Anton Stach found their way into the game well in the double six position, with Stach even putting himself in excellent offensive action with the decisive pass before the winning goal.”
As a result, if he is able to keep this up, there is no chance that Leeds will be relegated from the Premier League this season.
Leeds face battle to keep hold of Stach
As a result of his recent performances, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Leeds are determined to keep hold of Stach despite the ongoing speculation about his future in West Yorkshire.
Interest has increased in the midfielder, both from the Premier League and abroad, after quickly establishing himself as one of the club’s best players.

However, Daniel Farke sees the German international as a vital part of his Leeds side both now and going into the future.
Therefore, the manager is refusing to entertain the prospect of losing Stach in the summer transfer window, with Premier League survival perhaps being key to keeping the midfielder at Elland Road.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the Peacocks can keep hold of their star man or if a big transfer offer will tempt the club to part ways with the midfielder just a season after he moved to Yorkshire.
