Antonee Robinson responds to Ryan Sessegnon’s message after win vs Liverpool

Ryan Sessegnon was the toast of Craven Cottage after playing a key role in Fulham’s 3-2 win over Liverpool on Sunday.

Fulham inflicted only the second Premier League defeat of the season on Arne Slot’s title-chasing side, as Liverpool missed the chance to go a near-unassailable 14 points clear of Arsenal at the summit.

Alexis Mac Allister had given Liverpool a 14th-minute lead after Fulham were very unlucky to miss out on being awarded an early penalty, but the Cottagers didn’t take long to flip the entire match on its head.

Sessegnon got Fulham started, lashing home a half-volley after Curtis Jones failed to clear, and another well-taken strike from Alex Iwobi, benefitting from an Andy Robertson mistake, soon had them in front.

Rodrigo Muniz embarrassed Virgil van Dijk to make it 3-1 just five minutes later, and though Liverpool pulled a goal back in the second half through Luis Diaz, Fulham held on to secure an historic 3-2 win.

Ryan Sessegnon relishing Fulham return as message sent

Last summer saw Sessegnon end a turbulent five-season spell at Tottenham and return to his boyhood club on the other side of London, and the 24-year-old is thriving once again after injuries aplenty.

Sessegnon’s equaliser proved to be a turning point for Fulham in their 3-2 win over the champions-elect

The wideman has returned to the form which saw him burst onto the scene as a youngster with three goals in nine Premier League games this season, but few were more important than his Liverpool strike.

Posting on his Instagram page including a photo of him celebrating with Muniz, Sessegnon said: “Sundays at the Cottage don’t get much better.”

Andreas Pereira and Fulham skipper Antonee Robinson both left comments, with the latter posting a ‘TOP’ emoji, and the Brazilian calling Sessegnon a “baller”.

Fulham find the best in Sessegnon after Tottenham debacle

Sessegnon managed just 57 appearances across all competitions in five injury-hit seasons at Tottenham, with two of those seeing him fail to feature in the Premier League, one of which was spent out on loan.

Alan Hutton told Football Insider last April that if he could stay fit, Sessegnon would have been seen as an asset by Ange Postecoglou, but his summer exit on a free transfer came as a surprise to no-one.

Home is clearly where the heart is for Sessegnon, and with Marco Silva’s side outperforming Tottenham in the Premier League this season, it remains to be seen just how far he can help Fulham move forward.
