Antonee Robinson reacts as Fulham make vital Tom Cairney announcement

Antonee Robinson has reacted to the news that Fulham have made a key decision regarding the future of playmaker Tom Cairney.

Cairney has been an excellent servant for the Craven Cottage club since joining from Blackburn Rovers back in 2015.

The 34-year-old has helped Fulham win promotion from the Championship three times, and has subsequently become an asset for them in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, teammate Robinson has established himself as one of the best fullbacks in the top flight, providing 10 assists in the Premier League last season.

Robinson reacts as Fulham announce new Cairney contract

Amid the news that his contract was set to expire this summer, Cairney was linked with a move to Wrexham.

The Red Dragons are bolstering their ranks after winning successive promotions from the National League to the Championship.

However, the Welsh outfit will not be able to sign the former Hull City man, who has agreed fresh terms with Fulham.

The West London side announced Cairney’s new deal via Instagram on Monday, 14 July as they wrote: “One more year” alongside a white heart emoji.

Fulham’s announcement received a like from Robinson, who will look to score his first Premier League goal next season.

The argument could be made that Cairney has already achieved all that he can in Fulham colours by helping the Craven Cottage side win three promotions from the Championship, including the second-tier title in 2022, before playing a major role as Marco Silva’s men have become a solid Premier League side.

However, the 34-year-old’s dressing room presence is still a vital asset for Silva, who has made the right decision to retain his services.

Furthermore, Cairney enjoyed his best Premier League return as recently as the 2023/24 season, when he scored one goal and produced four assists.

Similarly to the West London outfit as a whole, the two-cap Scotland international previously struggled to bridge the gap between the Championship and the Premier League despite shining in the second tier.

But recent seasons have shown that Cairney has what it takes to perform in the Premier League, and should produce the goods yet again next term.
