Archie Gray: Keith Wyness shares dramatic Leeds transfer news
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness is expecting Leeds United to sell some of their star players this summer to help balance the books.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – admitted teenage sensation Archie Gray could even be sold after he’s been linked with a move away from Elland Road.
Football Insider revealed on 26 May that Leeds must recoup an astonishing £150million in player sales following their promotion failure due to the amount owed in unpaid transfer fees.
Gray, 18, has attracted interest from several top clubs following his breakout year in West Yorkshire, while Wilfried Gnonto, 20, and Crysencio Summerville, 22, have also been tipped to leave this summer.
Football Insider revealed on 28 May the Championship side are going to do “everything they can” to keep Gray at Elland Road next season.
Leeds United could sell Archie Gray to solve PSR issues
Wyness believes player sales are likely to be the only way Leeds can avoid breaching the profit and sustainability (PSR) rules.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “We are still expecting some of their players to go.
“Even Archie Gray, who is obviously Leeds through and through, has been linked with a couple of clubs.
“I do expect to see their big names going.
“They are going to have to put together a strong Championship squad. I think they can still do it.
“Leeds are a big club. They can always challenge in the Championship, but it’s not easy as they have just seen.

“From what I have heard from sources, I do expect their big names to be going.
“That’s where the PSR issue will have to be solved.”
