Armando Broja, Eddie Nketiah: Everton striker update from O’Rourke

Everton are set to miss out on deals to sign Armando Broja and Eddie Nketiah due to financial issues, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the club will be dictated by their finances, which have taken a large hit already in this transfer window.

Chelsea are demanding £20million to sell Broja this month, while Arsenal want between £25million and £30million to let Nketiah leave the Emirates.

Both strikers are out of Everton’s range in terms of a permanent transfer, but they could opt to explore loan deals towards the end of the month.

Football Insider revealed on 10 August that Everton are now considering making a move to sign Almeria forward Largie Ramazani as an alternative cheaper option.

Ramazani has entered the final year of his contract at the Spanish second-tier side and they may be forced to sell after suffering relegation last time out.

Everton target new striker signings after Nketiah and Broja twists

Signing a new striker has been a priority for Sean Dyche this summer as a result of his team’s profligacy in front of goal last time out.

The Toffees finished last season with just 40 goals from 38 league games – the Premier League’s second-lowest scoring team behind Sheffield United.

Between Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto, the club’s main forward options found the net just 14 times in a combined 77 games, forcing the recruitment team to search for improved options.

The arrivals of Jesper Lindstrom and Iliman Ndiaye were landed to boost the quality of the attacking options at Goodison Park, but a striker remains a top target.

Deals for both Nketiah and Broja have been explored, and they remain near the top of Everton’s shortlist, but they will have to wait for their prices to drop.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 30 July that Everton are braced to receive late offers for Calvert-Lewin amid interest from Newcastle.

The striker has just one year remaining on his current contract, but an early departure would accelerate the Toffees’ search for a replacement.
