Arnaut Danjuma cited amid ‘unsettling’ Tottenham star player update – expert

Antonio Conte will need to rely on Arnaut Danjuma to provide attacking depth at Tottenham with Lucas Moura “struggling” with an Achilles issue.

That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

Moura has managed just 90 minutes of Premier League action this season across his eight top-flight appearances.

The Brazilian winger has not played since before the World Cup break, with a recurring Achilles injury forcing him to the sidelines in North London.

Conte described Moura’s injury as a “pity” and stated that he is “struggling a lot to find a solution” given his lack of availability.

With the 30-year-old struggling to keep fit this season, Spurs secured Villarreal winger Danjuma on a loan deal late in the January window.

Dinnery believes the Danjuma deal may be directly related to Moura’s injury issues and Conte’s frustration at the lack of attacking depth his setback has caused.

“I think Tottenham’s late move for Danjuma came because Conte knew he needed more depth,” Dinnery told Football Insider.

“In particular, Lucas Moura’s injuries throughout the season have left him short of options.

“He’s struggling with a loading issue with his Achilles, and it’s an injury that can fluctuate and change day-to-day.

“Tottenham are struggling to decide a definitive comeback date for Moura as his heel can react differently to activities and stress each day.

“The unsettling news for Spurs is that the injury keeps flaring up and it’s something they’re struggling to treat it appropriately.

“He’s had just 90 minutes of Premier League action this season so Conte can’t rely on him to come back and have a huge impact on the squad.”
