Arnaut Danjuma: Pundit baffled by West Ham after transfer twist reported

Paul Robinson has pointed the finger at West Ham for failing to get “big-money deals” over the line in the transfer market.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one questioned why the club have failed in public pursuits of Kalvin Phillips, Raphinha and Arnaut Danjuma.

The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for Villarreal forward Danjuma, 25, this summer.

However, as reported by the Daily Mail‘s Simon Jones (1 July), the London club have shelved their attempts to sign the ex-Bournemouth star.

David Moyes is said to have not been convinced over signing the £35million-rated player.

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to the latest, Robinson said: “There is a lot of transfer talk around West Ham.

“They are linked with a lot of players but they get very few of the big-money, top deals over the line.

“It must be very frustrating for the fans. It has been that way for long time now.

“The have failed to build on their squad in recent windows. David Moyes’ ability to better player is there for all to see but he needs more quality in that squad to regularly challenge the top six.

“When you look at Kalvin Phillips, Raphinha, James Tarkowski and now Danjuma, they have failed to get deals done for the top-quality players. These are players who would take West Ham to the next level.

“When it comes down to transfer fees or wages, the deals always seem to break down for whatever reason.”

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed West Ham have been handed a boost by Government as £60million deal on the line.
