Arne Slot agrees Liverpool contract after overnight talks – sources
Liverpool have agreed to pay Feyenoord nearly £10million in compensation to bring Arne Slot to Anfield, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the price tag for the Feyenoord manager to replace Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout.
The Dutchman is set to become Liverpool’s next manager after a compensation package was thrashed out following the latest negotiations overnight.
Liverpool have agreed to pay Feyenoord £7.7m (9m euros) plus a possible £1.7m (2m euros) in add-ons.
It is believed that the attacking style of Slot’s teams, his personality and his ability to develop players are key factors in making him Liverpool’s choice for the job.
Liverpool now finalise contract terms with Arne Slot
Talks will not take place over the terms of the Dutchman’s contract, with an agreement already believed to be in place and no problems expected over finalising personal terms.
O’Rourke noted that Tottenham had a very strong interest in the 45-year-old last year, but he ended up staying at Feyenoord and getting a new deal.
That significant deal with the Eredivisie club means they will be looking for significant compensation from the Reds to let him go, particularly given that all of his background staff would be coming with him.
Sources have told Football Insider that Leeds United were previously interested in bringing Slot to Elland Road to replace Jesse Marsch, with Chelsea having also wanted him in the dugout at Stamford Bridge not so long ago.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (26 April) that the Reds are advancing in talks with the manager, but a deal is not done yet.
