Arne Slot has built up an ‘absolute goldmine’ at Liverpool

Arne Slot has faced criticism in recent weeks after Liverpool’s disappointing run of form in all competitions.

Liverpool backed Slot with multiple new signings in the recent summer transfer window, with the club spending £446million.

It is understood Slot has been in talks about a new contract as his current deal is set to expire in June 2027.

That move has been questioned after Liverpool recently lost six out of seven games in all competitions.

However, Liverpool have now secured back-to-back victories over Aston Villa and Real Madrid to suggest the tide is turning at Anfield.

Liverpool to make Arne Slot contract decision

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Slot has built up an “absolute goldmine of goodwill” after claiming the Premier League title at Liverpool last season.

The Dutch manager replaced Jurgen Klopp in the summer of 2024, having previously spent three years at Feyenoord.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Slot’s contract situation, Borson said: “There may be no need to renew it anyway. It may never have been true in the first place, but I would suspect that they will carry on regardless.

“Now, look, there’s a limit to that. Clearly, if it doesn’t turn any time soon, then clearly they might have another look at that because it may signify deeper issues.

“As we sit here now, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.”

Liverpool have moved up to third in the Premier League table following their victory over Aston Villa, but they remain seven points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Stefan Borson drops Liverpool title race prediction

Borson believes Liverpool are still in the title race despite their recent form.

“In terms of their recent performances, I still think they’re in the title race,” said Borson.

“I think that he’ll turn it around this season and going forward. I still think that he’s built up an absolute goldmine of goodwill from last season.

“He certainly should do, regardless of six or seven games right now. But I’m not a Liverpool fan, so they may feel differently.”

Slot is now preparing his side to face Man City on Sunday (9 November) at the Etihad Stadium.
