Arne Slot: Liverpool boss ‘on the ropes’ as sack plan accelerates
Arne Slot is facing increasing calls for his dismissal as Liverpool manager after a humiliating FA Cup defeat against Manchester City.
The Reds lost 4-0 at the Etihad as they were dumped out of the FA Cup in the quarter-final, dashing any hopes of winning domestic silverware this season.
While the remain in the Champions League ahead of their quarter-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain this week, their recent form has led to major doubts.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Slot is now “on the ropes” with questions being asked about his future at Anfield.
Anfield chiefs are believed to have been frustrated with their progress this season, and Slot has been told their league form must turn around, or Liverpool will look for a new manager.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 6 April that Liverpool may be forced to sack Slot as a result of his increasingly toxic relationship with the fans.
The defeat against Man City has only added to the ill feeling amongst the supporters, while club chiefs are becoming increasingly worried about the season.
PSG have already brushed Chelsea aside with an 8-2 win on aggregate, and a heavy defeat there could see Slot’s position become untenable.
“The pressure is certainly building on Slot,” Brown told Football Insider.
“He’s on the ropes and questions are being asked because this season has not been good enough, and the good will from last season is running out.
“They’re out of the FA Cup after that huge defeat against Man City which hasn’t gone down well with the fans, and I can’t imagine the club are happy either.
“I think they could justify their issues with the idea that they might win a trophy, but that’s not going to happen now I don’t think.
“If they now go and get knocked out of the Champions League against PSG, which is going to be a very difficult game for him, he’s in real trouble.
“Their Premier League form hasn’t been good enough to make up for it, they’re so up and down it’s hard to keep track of how they’re playing.
“Ultimately the blame for that falls on the manager and they’re not going to be happy with him.”
What must Slot do to keep his job at Liverpool?
Despite the growing feeling that Slot may be running out of time at Anfield, they remain keen to stick with him after their title-winning success last season.
Football Insider revealed on 13 March that Liverpool have no immediate plans to sack Slot as things stand, despite questions being asked.

However, they will assess his position at the end of the season, and qualification for the Champions League via their league position could prove vital.
Liverpool sit fifth in the Premier League table as things stand, although they are just one point above sixth-placed Chelsea and three above Everton in eighth.
Should they miss out, it would likely spell the end of Slot’s time at Anfield, with the club forced to enter the market for a replacement.
