Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil has taken to Twitter to thank fans after he was awarded with BT Sport’s Champions League goal of the season.
The 28-year-old’s last-gasp strike in the 3-2 win over Ludogorets in the group stages of the competition clearly impressed football fans.
He flicked the ball over the goalkeeper before showing quick footwork to beat two defenders to open up the net to score in the 88th minute to give the Gunners a 3-2 win after originally being two goals behind.
Ozil’s only Champions League goals came against Ludogorets this season. He scored four times in both home and away fixtures with a hat-trick in the 6-0 thrashing of the Bulgarian side at the Emirates.
Now, the German World Cup winner has taken to his personal Twitter account to offer his thanks.
“Thank you guys for voting my goal as the best in the Champions League this season,” he said.

Ozil has come under a lot of criticism from Arsenal fans throughout the season after seemingly going missing in some of the big games.
He did not do a lot to help the Gunners get past Bayern Munich in the knock-out stages which saw them lost 10-2 on aggregate.
However the German international certainly redeemed himself in the FA Cup final when he pulled the strings as Arsene Wenger’s side beat Chelsea 2-1 at Wembley for their only piece of silverware for the season.
Ozil made a total of 44 appearances across all competitions for the North London side this season, scoring 12 goals and supplying 14 assists.
In other Arsenal news, a 24-goal attacker has confirmed the Gunners have made an approach for him.
