Arsenal agree first summer signing with more new arrivals to follow
Arsenal are kicking off their summer business with the signing of Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gunners are ready to activate the 26-year-old’s £51million release clause and reunite him with Mikel Merino at the Emirates Stadium.
Zubimendi has agreed terms with the London giants, with his arrival arranged as Arsenal prepare to lose Thomas Partey and Jorginho at the end of their contracts next month.
It has been widely reported that Partey is in talks to extend his stay with Mikel Arteta’s side – but a deal has not yet been reached.
Arsenal and Berta planning more summer deals
Sources say Arsenal are planning further arrivals after announcing Zubimendi’s arrival – with new sporting director Andrea Berta getting his feet under the table at the Emirates Stadium.
The signing of the Spain international will crucially reduce the Gunners’ reliance on star man Declan Rice – who missed the clash with Liverpool having been virtually ever-present in the Premier League and Champions League this term.

Zubimendi has made 45 appearances across all competitions this term, scoring two goals and contributing two assists.
The 26-year-old, who was part of the Spain squad which won the European Championships in 2024, rejected a move to Premier League champions Liverpool last summer.

Arsenal defender wanted in Italy
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (11 May) that Jakub Kiwior is on the radar of both Juventus and Inter Milan as he weighs up his long-term future at Arsenal.
Kiwior has been playing regularly for the Gunners after Gabriel’s injury but will soon return to the bench once the Brazil international returns to fitness.
He joined from Italian side Spezia in January 2023 and has made 66 Arsenal appearances since then.
